Deuteronomy 6:6-7

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. ~ Deuteronomy 6:6-7

The Master's Mind , by Lance Hahn

How is your thought life? Have you ever stopped to consider the importance of the way that you speak to yourself? The Bible has some things to say about our internal state of being.  Luke 6:45 says "The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." (ESV)

In his book, The Master's Mind, The Art of Reshaping Your Thoughts, author Lance Hahn offers his insight into taking control of our thought life, with the goal being a mind aligned with Christ. I received a free copy of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion. It was the title that first caught my eye. "The Art of Reshaping Your Thoughts". Speaking for myself, this is a daily battle. A little bit of negative self talk has the power to ruin my attitude.

Hahn suggests that the battle for our minds goes back to The Garden of Eden, when sin entered the world. Since then, mankind has had an identity crisis. The problem is, we often choose a wrong identity. Throughout the book, the author presents various scenarios that lay out where we tend to seek our worth, and why those places are wrong. It's only when we repent, and realign our lives to follow the biblical path that God has set for us, that we find our true identity. As the Scripture commands us, we need to put off the old, the sinful, and put on the new, the godly habits.

Now, I could give you these examples, but then there would be no point in you reading the book for yourself. If you, like so many others, struggle with thoughts of anxiety, insecurity, doubt, and the list goes on, The Master's Mind might be a good book to point you in the best direction, to the Lord. Until next time,
