This year has been quite the adventure for well, everyone, hasn't it? Homeschooling has seen an incredible jump in numbers, as circumstances forced many families to lock down and stay close to home. Whether you find yourself a newbie, navigating the unfamiliar of curriculum and schedules, or a seasoned veteran, we can all agree that resources that work for a wide range of ages within a family are always welcomed with enthusiasm! This past month, we were pleased to have been given a year's access to the Download Club membership from My Teaching Library to use and review.
My Teaching Library provides downloads of educational resources for homeschooling families and teachers for grades PreK through 12. They offer two ways of accessing their products, through individual purchase or through a membership ( annual or lifetime). A membership is definitely the most cost effective choice, and at $45 per year, it's a bargain. There are THOUSANDS of materials to download, which makes me giddy with excitement! Please note though, that the purchase of a download or membership limits use to one single teacher or family, for use within one household or classroom setting. The license you receive when purchasing a single download or membership is not transferable.
Resources are available for the following subjects:
Arts, Electives, Languages, Science, Character Education, Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies.
Other topics include:
Skills and Concepts, Family and Home, Seasonal Themes, Interactive Learning, Instructional Videos, Classroom Management, Monthly Topics, Holiday Themes, Puzzles and Games, Skills Review Packets, Instructional PowerPoint.
There are various ways to find what you're looking for. Search the site by grade, subject, or miscellaneous topic.
I'm not sure what you think of when you hear of a resource that offers educational downloads. Personally, I think of extra worksheets, puzzles, and other things along those lines, which are great. But My Teaching Library doesn't limit their selections to only the "extras". They also offer full blown curriculum and books. My daughters are teens, and as I searched the high school selections, I was impressed to find full stories, curriculum, and instructional guides for all sorts of electives and home economics subjects.
Math can be a bit of a headache for us, so finding Algebra helps, in a full book, as well as in a sheet with various algebraic expressions was a helpful find for us. We've been studying the American Revolution for History, and a book about Paul Revere thrilled me! Home Economics resources that we've been exploring on this site have included an instructional guide to knitting and crocheting, and a book called The American Frugal Housewife. Several of the titles that we've discovered are older, written in the early 1900's, and the vocabulary and content definitely reflect the times of those specific times in History. I love getting a glimpse into what was important to people at that time. My Teaching Library is a treasure trove of helps for any and every family. You'll find something for every age. They say that resources go up to grade 12, but adults will benefit and enjoy many of the downloads as well. I really love this site a lot, and it will be in regular use in our studies. I find that even some of the selections that are really aimed at younger students are still fun for me, and for my daughters, particularly the holiday topics, and parts of the copywork that have memory verses. Those would be great to cut apart, laminate, and maybe embellish with ribbon for pretty little bookmarks. You can do a sort of "try before you buy" with this resource by visiting their website and trying some of their freebies. Please check them out!
