One of the fun aspects of living where we do, is that we're not far from Rockford, Illinois, where the Rockford Peaches played back in the mid 1940's to the early 1950's. Today, we visited a local museum, where every year, they host an exhibition game put on by the historical group that calls themselves "A League of Our Own". That phrase may be familiar to you, as might be the Rockford Peaches themselves. That would be because their story was made famous in the 1990's in the Tom Hanks movie, "A League of Their Own".
It was a treat to walk around and read some of the history behind this team of amazing women. My youngest was especially thrilled, as the movie is probably her favorite right now. After walking around the exhibit, we enjoyed watching a bit of the exhibition game. There was even an appearance from an actual Peach, "Sis" Waddell. What a fun day!
