It arrived in a sturdy, colorful box that had eye catching illustrations on the inside of the box. As for the Bible itself, Wow! It is a very nice, sturdy, hardcover book that certainly had me wanting to pick it up and start reading.</p><p>The Faith in Action Edition is an enhanced version of the bestselling Expanded Edition. For anyone unfamiliar with it, this one presents the Bible in comic book style. Now hold up, I can hear some of you saying, no thanks, I want a traditional version. Wait a minute, please! Yes, it's in the graphic novel sort of genre. That is actually a great thing, particularly for those younger ones who may struggle with reading, for one reason or another. This edition is about helping kids Engage in God's Word, Grow in God's Word, and Live God's Word.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdDrqRlEc-CIHHWOCuk0SrimilBzaBl7TwbdUpWQATHHUbSqqtAWqfILySxzh99tNvukZQ9getz4MMosQnCSl2ZfCmvJhYrtAq1CURFwv0f7zKe74nHdS0uzs3tHdZIbtGaKTXLDQ8JnGp4-o6WYXehDsxKBZhSaRch8zBCsCUJ5KLhZJk_08r_AYpQV4/s320/faithinactionbible2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="245" data-original-width="320" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdDrqRlEc-CIHHWOCuk0SrimilBzaBl7TwbdUpWQATHHUbSqqtAWqfILySxzh99tNvukZQ9getz4MMosQnCSl2ZfCmvJhYrtAq1CURFwv0f7zKe74nHdS0uzs3tHdZIbtGaKTXLDQ8JnGp4-o6WYXehDsxKBZhSaRch8zBCsCUJ5KLhZJk_08r_AYpQV4/s1600/faithinactionbible2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>The illustrations are captivating, drawing the reader in. The text is true to Scripture, which of course is the most important thing. The stories are presented in a short, impactful manner, helping connect Gen Zs and Gen Alphas to God's Word.</p><p>The pages have been created with kids in mind as well, using sturdy, glossy paper, making flipping to any story a breeze. Stories are in chronological order to better help kids understand God's redemptive story.</p><p>Major themes of the Bible are highlighted throughout with icons that help kids personalize their faith and live God's Word. Themes of the Bible are based on David C. Cook's tested Bible study curriculum for kids and include: Courage, Faith, Hope, Love, Service, Trust, and Wisdom.</p><p>Spiritual Growth Resources include over 200 devotionals, prayers, character stories, teaching videos, timelines, maps, and Bible facts.</p><p>The Faith in Action Edition is the most complete interactive Bible for kids and teens. Kids and parents can access digital resources by scanning QR codes throughout the Bible. The Action Bible has helped millions of kids engage in God's Word throughout the world.</p><p><br /></p><p>I wasn't sure about the style of this edition for about a millisecond. This week, I had the very enjoyable opportunity to review the first three episodes of <a href="https://www.thechosenriseup.com/">The Chosen Season 4</a> </p><p>Yes friends, the wait is over, and our favorite series is back! </p><p>Not surprisingly, these first episodes are as engaging as the first three seasons have been. If you're familiar with the Bible, you'll already know that the account takes on an increasingly serious tone, as the time for Jesus to journey to the cross draws closer.</p><p>I know that I'm not alone in finding The Chosen a refreshing portrayal of the life of Christ. Gone are the older versions, where most of the characters are blonde or light brown in hair color, sporting British accents. The actors, the settings, the accents...all work together to offer a more realistic interpretation. of course, there is creative license throughout, seen in side stories, and imagined conversations between Jesus, and His followers. But the heart of it stays true to the Bible, which is what I. my family, and of course the countless other viewers find compelling. </p><p>Episode 1 centers around John the Baptist, starting with his miraculous birth, his extraordinary life, culminating in his death, and the effects on the disciples, and Jesus Himself. It is a fantastic possible look at what they all felt and experienced..</p><p>Episode 2 begins with the continued effect that John's death has had, but moves on to one of the most important questions a person can ask, "Who do you say that I (Jesus) say I am? As the disciples wrestle with this, the religious leaders are conspiring against Jesus. Time is growing short.</p><p>Episode 3 offers a look at the growing unrest in the leaders, from the Roman soldiers, up to the religious leaders. We see an urgency in Jesus' teachings as His earthly time is growing shorter. As for the way this episode ends, you won't see this coming, and it will leave you open mouthed in shock and surprise. My own response is simply, Wow.</p><p>I'd love to tell you more, but I won't. I would urge you- SEE THIS SEASON!! I pray it will draw you closer to the Lord, increase your faith, and move you to share Jesus with your friends and family. RISE UP!</p><p>Now, a few details:</p><p><br /></p><p>Synopsis: </p><p>Clashing kingdoms. Rival Rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus' growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus' message turns violent, He's left with no alternative but demand His followers RISE UP.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVyV3Y3lnIyhqWVZ5SeAMg_AsnOp6oU-qbA5ywWgHG3mlcFCfrAzCBODLj1zdZ8-VeYjooJvUGRcyXVZHAYggYEPvL6RxC7MTOy_GJ39uEu-62eMSLGo4j8wB1pv95s8xAT3O9glUTNCMNXZS-VSzzi3kCB7vYEtUq9gG4mpdBZKwtu1I4SG04xDpOQ88/s1473/riseup.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1473" data-original-width="1473" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVyV3Y3lnIyhqWVZ5SeAMg_AsnOp6oU-qbA5ywWgHG3mlcFCfrAzCBODLj1zdZ8-VeYjooJvUGRcyXVZHAYggYEPvL6RxC7MTOy_GJ39uEu-62eMSLGo4j8wB1pv95s8xAT3O9glUTNCMNXZS-VSzzi3kCB7vYEtUq9gG4mpdBZKwtu1I4SG04xDpOQ88/s320/riseup.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>Some "Fun Facts" for you:</p><p>- The first three seasons of The Chosen will soon be dubbed in 50 languages with plans to subtitle in more than 600.</p><p>- The Chosen is the first multi-season series of its kind: a groundbreaking historical drama about the life of Jesus.</p><p>- Jonathon Roumie was invited to the Vatican on two different occasions to speak to the Pope about his role as Jesus.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAQJHBoICzSzEQavntKJ-feIpamph-ajJI5DCMYjYT6MJ2S7NlMRK_WopfoN2AoK5NZZUctp35k6YtfCA2Jme4pzK1Wlv4_dtqzi2gx6WHbuVu5qY_98FSPmWyRxm7razoelkHXj1LVhym1CptdeeDKorHyzXJwVc68jGkzNiHfgkNvFlRDo_JU-DTacY/s1536/jesusdisciples.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1536" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAQJHBoICzSzEQavntKJ-feIpamph-ajJI5DCMYjYT6MJ2S7NlMRK_WopfoN2AoK5NZZUctp35k6YtfCA2Jme4pzK1Wlv4_dtqzi2gx6WHbuVu5qY_98FSPmWyRxm7razoelkHXj1LVhym1CptdeeDKorHyzXJwVc68jGkzNiHfgkNvFlRDo_JU-DTacY/s320/jesusdisciples.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>About The Chosen:</p><p>The Chosen is a groundbreaking historical drama based on the life of Jesus (Jonathon Roumie), seen through the eyes of those who knew Him. If you grew up attending church, it was likely that this was one of your favorites. Countless numbers of Sunday school teachers have recounted the tale on felt boards across the world. Whatever your religious affiliation, most people know the general account of Moses, and his quest to free the Jewish people from Pharoah and lead them out of Egypt. This week, I was glad for an invitation to view a screening of Prince of Egypt, the Musical, based on the biblical account.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7LkhTJd3F01z-RgHRGcaDm2ZQyqQTLRRdPUKnTXhPwG4oIGc28NpA037i8QNKKeHDyMyfqEri1WVk-3utEl63BkBf1DyKKpPr7bw_pytVCZ6Vc7cDUkBv65vYww0u4ITXMLpmxHhcKJIcOgAaCh_QV7Dihyphenhyphen0m0tXn9PVWmuU6i27HcutGUgbgEPP0FO0/s4036/Prince%20Of%20Egypt-06-12-21-Dominion-4356.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3162" data-original-width="4036" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7LkhTJd3F01z-RgHRGcaDm2ZQyqQTLRRdPUKnTXhPwG4oIGc28NpA037i8QNKKeHDyMyfqEri1WVk-3utEl63BkBf1DyKKpPr7bw_pytVCZ6Vc7cDUkBv65vYww0u4ITXMLpmxHhcKJIcOgAaCh_QV7Dihyphenhyphen0m0tXn9PVWmuU6i27HcutGUgbgEPP0FO0/s320/Prince%20Of%20Egypt-06-12-21-Dominion-4356.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>This isn't the animated version that you may have enjoyed some years ago, but a full, live action cast. Synopsis:</p><p>"Filmed live at the West End's Dominion Theatre, London, the show features a cast and orchestra of 60 performers, making it one of the biggest musicals ever staged. The Prince of Egypt: The Musical is the must-see event for all fans of musical theatre. Based on the classic DreamWorks Animation film the classic story has beenbrough to life by Stephen Schwartz's "miraculous music" (Time Out), including Academy Awards winning -song 'When You Believe' and Sean Cheesman's "astonishing choreography" (The Guardian). this epic, critically acclaimed production tells an inspiring tale of resilience and hope. Journey through the wonders of Ancient Egypt as two young men, raised together as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, find themselves suddenly divided by a secret past. One must rule as Pharoah, the other must rise up and free his true people; both face a destiny that will change history forever."</p><p>Watch the trailer:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0JIpIourAas" width="320" youtube-src-id="0JIpIourAas"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>The cast was amazing in all areas. This production is more than actors saying, and in this musical instance, singing lines. Prince of Egypt has plenty of complicated, fantastic, choreography, lifts, jumps, kicks, and man oh man, how those actors had the strength to hold fellow actors up in various instances for extended periods of time, I do not know.</p><p>The scenery/backgrounds are simple yet striking. The costumes of the actors often contribute to the setting, and pun intended when I say, props to the set designer!</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM_EgiJ3v56gUcmmMjoYBSE4EGFYvHA34ZttwjV3_KZ4wQqR_nIQUkirq8x27Lv_yXd7bulhZ402_vyn-k7xzayrVlJ4-RWx7E8Iwc6Wr_5pA0w6kedzA7aLSFNqLBEZBfaei-sR9-8skvDBX1z6TgRxkqS9I0b7kHXxPSbF1pfuKaPaawnH-nSscSsqE/s4374/Prince%20Of%20Egypt-06-12-21-Dominion-4126.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3162" data-original-width="4374" height="231" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM_EgiJ3v56gUcmmMjoYBSE4EGFYvHA34ZttwjV3_KZ4wQqR_nIQUkirq8x27Lv_yXd7bulhZ402_vyn-k7xzayrVlJ4-RWx7E8Iwc6Wr_5pA0w6kedzA7aLSFNqLBEZBfaei-sR9-8skvDBX1z6TgRxkqS9I0b7kHXxPSbF1pfuKaPaawnH-nSscSsqE/s320/Prince%20Of%20Egypt-06-12-21-Dominion-4126.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>The story was captivating from the opening scene. The casting was spot on, with each member playing their part with skill and detail. "Moses" and "Rameses" played off each other very well. As the story progresses, I was watching "Moses" and "Tzipporah", anticipating their love story. Tzipporah's father also grabbed the audience's attention with a fantastic stage presence, and quick wit. The High Priest was another amazingly well cast part of the crew. He was such a diabolical personality, with the slightest touch of humor. And his voice- what a range! </p><p>I've always loved the soundtrack to this show, and the cast didn't let me down with their performances. 'Deliver Us' and When You Believe still rate as favorites of mine, and have a set place in my play list.</p><p>Now, my one caution to families here...I don't think I need to say that its not a good plan to base your theology on an interpretation of a Bible story, rather than from the Bible itself. However, I'm saying it here. There are some creative liberties that have been taken throughout the production. One of the major ones is with the ending. I won't declare a spoiler alert, because the story is so well known. In this ending, Pharoah sees the error of his ways, and he and Moses come to a kind of understanding. </p><p>This will, no doubt put a few noses out of joint. It will also certainly provide talking points for discussions with your family, and hopefully, inspire you to read the actual account of Moses in the Old Testament.</p><p>So, I enjoyed it very much for its musical, theatrical elements. Ita was a delightfully engaging, family friendly show that can be appreciated by the whole family. It isn't 100% biblically accurate, but I think if you approach it as the fictitious interpretation that it is, you'll enjoy it as well.</p><p>Now then, how about a giveaway? I would guess that most of you are in the midst of decorating, shopping, and baking. There is always plenty to occupy us during this time of year, isn't there? As I mentioned baking, I'm reminded of all of the scrumptious treats that we cook up and enjoy from November to January. My pants are feeling tighter just at the thought of it!</p><p style="text-align: center;">The holidays include a period of liberal feasting, satisfying our physical bodies. But, as we eat our fill of treats, are we also feeding our spiritual side? Maybe you can relate to me, as I too often find myself neglecting time with God, as I become distracted with this often-chaotic time of year. If I'm not watchful, I can find that days have gone by without my having spent much meaningful time in His Word. But we need our time with the Lord desperately!</p><p style="text-align: center;">Can you identify with me on this? Happily, we don't need any fancy tools to make our quiet time happen. We need only a Bible, a pen possibly, and a willing heart. Speaking of Bibles, we spend this time of year buying up gifts for friends and family, and often, understandably, leave ourselves off of the shopping list. But I've got a great suggestion to treat yourself this Christmas, one that's the proverbial "gift that keeps on giving the whole year 'round".</p><p style="text-align: center;">I was given a <b>FREE COPY</b> of the <a href="https://csblifewaywomensbible.com/?mid=pm%3Ablg%3A221931%7Cacq%7Cna%7Cbibles%7Cchristian_standard_bible%7Cna%7Clifeway_womens_bible_blogger%3Amm%3Ana">CSB Lifeway Women's Bible</a> in exchange for my honest review, and I'm happy to share it with you today.</p><p style="text-align: center;">I'll begin with the obvious, it's appearance. Good? Yes, it sure is! I'm really loving this Bible. Aside from the fact that it's the Word of God, which to believers in Christ, is a very precious thing, it's aesthetically pleasing. Did I mention that the color is magnificent? I've always liked the color yellow, but some hues are harsh and uncomfortable for the eye. This color, Marigold, I say it again because I adore the name of the shade, is a beautiful golden yellow. There are also 2 ribbon bookmarks, for marking your current readings.</p><p style="text-align: center;">I love all of the devotions and articles. It's amazing that God provides just the word I need at just the right time. The overviews, introductions, and reading plans inspire me to dig deeper and reflect on a given passage of text. At 9.5" by 7", it's a fantastic size. It's small enough not to be cumbersome to carry, while being large enough to easily read with my ever-aging eyes. </p><p style="text-align: center;"><b>If you're all set with your personal Bible already, why not consider picking up a copy of this one for a Christmas gift for a friend or loved one? This phenomenal group has been a wonderful blessing to our family for many years now. Through them, weāve had the opportunity to use and review curriculum and resources that we might never had known were available.</p><p>The community that this group provides to its members is also amazing. They share prayers, successes, failures, tips, and friendship. I love this group.</p>Lauriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09891590053171032210noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5147342140437970744.post-11649401164116161792020-11-24T23:23:00.002-06:002020-11-24T23:23:51.602-06:00Thanksgiving- Day 24<p> Tonight, Iām thankful that my teen daughters still want to spend their down time with me. Theyāre growing up fast, and I love that they still want to carry on our evening tradition of watching our favorite shows and laughing together.</p>Lauriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09891590053171032210noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5147342140437970744.post-30752982019005308532020-11-23T21:36:00.002-06:002020-11-23T21:36:52.271-06:00Thanksgiving, Day 23<p> Alright, no computer issues so far. I'm good to go. Who else is struggling to be thankful today? I know I have so much to be grateful for, but the events here in the U.S. are absolutely sideways. But here I go, because gratitude can realign perspective.</p><p>With that babbling over, today I'm thankful that God is in complete control. These events seem impossible and without a positive outcome, but God is sovereign, and ultimately all will be well.</p>Lauriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09891590053171032210noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5147342140437970744.post-3359142372774963282020-11-22T22:09:00.000-06:002020-11-22T22:09:26.441-06:00More Thanksgiving...<p> Oh man,</p><p>I've had nothing but computer problems the last few weeks. We have, or had, at least, two laptops for me and the girls to use, and the first one completely conked out earlier in the week. My second one is now acting kooky, in spite of a reset. Sigh. I finished my last review on my phone, yikes. Oh well, I'll be computer shopping very soon. All that to say, I'm behind on some postings. I'll start here, and catch up on my Thanksgiving posts. I left off on November 16 so...</p><p>16.) Essential oils, because they're so great for so many aspects of our health.</p><p>17.) Texting. I'm so glad that we have the ability to connect instantly with friends and family.</p><p>18.) Mindless comedy sitcoms. The world feels like it's turned upside down, and sometimes we just need to laugh at something silly.</p><p>19.) Families that set up their Christmas lights to blink in time with Christmas music.</p><p>20.) Lazy Sunday mornings which is when my husband and I set aside time to drink coffee, read, pray, and talk.</p><p>21.) Learning new stories about family members, and the way it makes my mom laugh.</p><p>22.) Little dogs that love to snuggle.</p>Lauriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09891590053171032210noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5147342140437970744.post-69975979442460506712020-11-20T10:02:00.001-06:002020-11-20T10:02:54.981-06:00CrossTimber - A Crew Review<p> <b><i><span style="font-size: large;">Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. Wow, time flies when you're reviewing fantastic homeschool products! This last one is a fun and somewhat whimsical product that is great for all ages.</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Do any of you remember the bookstores that had a section with frameable prints that had any and every name, along with its meaning? I loved those, but they seemed to disappear at one point. As it turns out, they didn't disappear! <a href="http://www.meaning.name/">CrossTimber</a> is an online company that will customize all kinds of wonderful gifts with the name(s) of your choice. They graciously allowed our family to choose 5 <a href="http://www.bookmarks.name/">Name Bookmarks</a> as well as one set of personalized <a href="http://www.amazing.name/ACTIVITY/">AmazingName Print Activity Sheets</a> to use and review. </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2kJjNENcQp5QIIUvcUqcH2hhyphenhyphenfjUjVXbbOJlPzZ4ZPQrewdxx2hncB18FTzrYXQwSe1obvogM67SAaxSQsSX2LyEPGfaWVxCbHhVduZKlpzidq4KDUaIynzJtV18q4uxQoN9HO8VjsDo/s2048/BDFCF62C-9B18-4D40-A04F-F1E3E08ADFD9.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1398" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2kJjNENcQp5QIIUvcUqcH2hhyphenhyphenfjUjVXbbOJlPzZ4ZPQrewdxx2hncB18FTzrYXQwSe1obvogM67SAaxSQsSX2LyEPGfaWVxCbHhVduZKlpzidq4KDUaIynzJtV18q4uxQoN9HO8VjsDo/s320/BDFCF62C-9B18-4D40-A04F-F1E3E08ADFD9.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">CrossTimber is a family owned business owned and operated by John Dehnart and helped by his family. They provide a wide variety of personalized gifts, including the products I listed above, as well as mugs, plaques, and music boxes. Each of these provides the selected name and its meaning, origin, and a Bible verse. </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">When deciding what name gift to order from the website, you will choose from the blue bar menu at the top of the page. They will walk you through all of the steps to create the gift that you want. There are a myriad of design choices available. The difficult part is choosing which theme to use! </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">When it came down to choosing our bookmark designs, I first had to decide who would get an extra bookmark, since there are 4 of us in our immediate family, and we were allowed 5 bookmarks. I quickly decided that as lovely as they are, my husband probably wouldn't use one. So, I chose one for myself, and two each for my daughters, using their given names, and their nicknames. </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Did I mention the available choices for designs? There are so many pretty options! I'm telling you, when you order, set aside a good block of time just to browse! </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">For my design, I chose a pretty Fall tree nature scene.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfVbMxqoxQD35K-PwMbSqUtN17zfB-Apnl5TXJ-nMeGk7WbUzK8csnSO5oduFOjGi76B0TFCuWvAO7Ufmfs1_mpvRncjQ2noIXhucKT7zG_SDz_okWzrr3RykESKFgI3GSG4wOYw0R7-o/s2048/2CCD4D80-67BC-4336-A2D1-D00197E7FE9B.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1723" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfVbMxqoxQD35K-PwMbSqUtN17zfB-Apnl5TXJ-nMeGk7WbUzK8csnSO5oduFOjGi76B0TFCuWvAO7Ufmfs1_mpvRncjQ2noIXhucKT7zG_SDz_okWzrr3RykESKFgI3GSG4wOYw0R7-o/s320/2CCD4D80-67BC-4336-A2D1-D00197E7FE9B.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">For my daughters' first bookmark design, I used their full names, and selected musical notes, as they are both musicians.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKgL0pWy-Hp0UpxHf2Fvjh8e9xuI0inVbZU8sgm1BiPql52Z5f9Xi6B0ME6QdG9rzBQI9e_L6dDOeCJW3PCJMD1No2G8ULhAGZuzw0UxLuavHl-RAU_YuGQlKVT8mccgBZcMRRYo2ffT8/s2048/7F4E0102-6CF9-43A7-9ED4-390E5CE41651.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1289" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKgL0pWy-Hp0UpxHf2Fvjh8e9xuI0inVbZU8sgm1BiPql52Z5f9Xi6B0ME6QdG9rzBQI9e_L6dDOeCJW3PCJMD1No2G8ULhAGZuzw0UxLuavHl-RAU_YuGQlKVT8mccgBZcMRRYo2ffT8/s320/7F4E0102-6CF9-43A7-9ED4-390E5CE41651.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">For my daughters' second design, I used their nicknames, and went with animal themes. I was pleased with the finished product. They are made with a cardstock type of paper, with a glossy finish on the front. I will say, that these will bend and begin to look beat up quickly if you don't treat them gently. Plastic would of course be more sturdy. I'm going to cover them with laminating sheets so we can enjoy them longer. I might also add a ribbon at the top. Do you practice the discipline of a daily quiet time? Those of us who call ourselves Christians know how important it is to study the Bible, but it does take a conscious effort. Maybe you used to have personal devotions regularly, but lately, you've found that you've slipped out of the routine. You want to, you intend to do it, but well, life seems to get in the way, and pretty soon, you find yourself caught up in the tide of a busy family life. I've been there more times than I would like to admit. I feel the battle of "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak". But, I also want to model the habit of a daily quiet time to my daughters. I want them to learn that busyness is not an excuse to skip Bible study. In fact, I want them to see Bible study not as another thing on their to-do list, but a vital component of life. With all of this in mind, I was keen to receive the <a href="https://julienaturally.com/product/romans-bible-study-bundle/">Faith Journeys Bible Study Series: Romans bundle</a> and the <a href="https://julienaturally.com/product/philippians-bible-study/">Faith Journeys Bible Study Series: Phillipians</a> from <a href="https://julienaturally.com/">Julie Naturally</a> to use and review.<p></p><p>Julie Polanco is the creator of Julie Naturally. She has experience working in a variety of roles within the church. Her resources focus on equipping homeschooling families in wholesome, natural living. Her site provides a wealth of information for unschooling, homesteading, wholistic health, and most important, the Christian life.</p><p>Both studies require a computer of course, to download and print the studies, a Bible, and a binder. Julie recommends that you print off the pages and secure them in a binder. All material is copyrighted, and is for the use of the buyer only.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihIXwub20Jf3X01CsxdZpiQkPBs2QcNSB3mo9mTE8wjrtgK0y5NnQcWuLssb99bOJvA0xGexBvaoQgjjfIghc8nUpy5UkIZw8ukP-MUOXnedPqCtmTbnfm2RwnGywvNHxH0s9apK6zxSY/s639/Screenshot+%2528142%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="639" data-original-width="403" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihIXwub20Jf3X01CsxdZpiQkPBs2QcNSB3mo9mTE8wjrtgK0y5NnQcWuLssb99bOJvA0xGexBvaoQgjjfIghc8nUpy5UkIZw8ukP-MUOXnedPqCtmTbnfm2RwnGywvNHxH0s9apK6zxSY/s320/Screenshot+%2528142%2529.png" /></a></div><p><br /></p><p>This first study is the Faith Journeys Romans bundle. It is an 8 week study, created with busy Christian moms in mind. Daily exercises may be completed in as early as 20 minutes. The study provides Bible passages, questions that relate to the daily passage, videos (for the bundle version only), memory verse cards that can be cut apart and put wherever you like in the house, car, etc., and coloring pages.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;">Questions from the Romans study</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEI81H75bJXqLzSY4ViFxb_HwAqfiytrhf8L6oo_mkc1nsP6BEmg13gYsmqEH_8MLHQDnC0tMMgmG80EvZ3b_uDDLIzOBhQMEQZEvrFQMu9G3M0rG58fsF8xf7IUIuY2YGf6pIhwQQetg/s641/Screenshot+%2528144%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="641" data-original-width="602" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEI81H75bJXqLzSY4ViFxb_HwAqfiytrhf8L6oo_mkc1nsP6BEmg13gYsmqEH_8MLHQDnC0tMMgmG80EvZ3b_uDDLIzOBhQMEQZEvrFQMu9G3M0rG58fsF8xf7IUIuY2YGf6pIhwQQetg/s320/Screenshot+%2528144%2529.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Memory Verse Cards.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX5aNNuuwsgjvsjmd64QRhzCru7J0k61s77pdo3nwqBtyIEAeZRHJ02frp58VBAHdnhIvYBeXAf8RaWHcWYrmCaHKBkEGSTNBeDrKxpsmsaIHW_PYg3rq9uMMee_8ucw4XFzDeMds3S3o/s683/Screenshot+%2528148%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="625" data-original-width="683" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX5aNNuuwsgjvsjmd64QRhzCru7J0k61s77pdo3nwqBtyIEAeZRHJ02frp58VBAHdnhIvYBeXAf8RaWHcWYrmCaHKBkEGSTNBeDrKxpsmsaIHW_PYg3rq9uMMee_8ucw4XFzDeMds3S3o/s320/Screenshot+%2528148%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">A pretty coloring page from the Romans study</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMYDaahgTJTa7Kj8Sro1-vUIdIT6UosQ7v1S3Tgn0LJCoxPswg_cRR0ogjXyFszfg0eUaoojmfefr-wPN5uvQ3zqVnPBOa4ii31B6Vz-7XlUdqx-HkYEU4ZKb-7tskw7BTpZ5Q3tUS3IY/s914/julie1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="914" data-original-width="583" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMYDaahgTJTa7Kj8Sro1-vUIdIT6UosQ7v1S3Tgn0LJCoxPswg_cRR0ogjXyFszfg0eUaoojmfefr-wPN5uvQ3zqVnPBOa4ii31B6Vz-7XlUdqx-HkYEU4ZKb-7tskw7BTpZ5Q3tUS3IY/s320/julie1.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>The Philippians Bible study follows the same structure as the Romans study. Hopefully, it's instilling a habit in Bible study that will be a life long routine.</p><p>You can use these studies for just yourself, or bring your older daughters in to work through them together. However you choose to implement them, they will enhance your spiritual growth. Check them out.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>

So there you go.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If I'm honest, I haven't felt very thankful these last few weeks, maybe even this year. You would have to have been living under a rock not to understand the world's circumstances this year to not know what I mean, so I'll leave that bit alone.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Anyway, gratitude is an effective way to change a perspective, so I'm going to catch up on this 15th day of November, and share 15 things that I am thankful for.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">1.) My husband. He works hard for our family, he loves me and our daughters, and he shows it everyday with thoughtful gestures, like bringing me my favorite water, even going to multiple places to find it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">2.) My mom. I'm so glad that we have a close relationship. She is probably the only person that I can talk to on the phone for an hour or more at a time, and still have more to say. She's the best.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">3.) My dad. I'm also so glad to have a close relationship with him. He loves his family so much, and never misses an opportunity to tell us how much we mean to him.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">4.) Modern technology that allows me to research my family history, even back to the United States Revolutionary War. I'm grateful to learn about my rich family history.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">5.) Hot showers. Researching my family history reminds me of all of the modern conveniences I have today.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">6.) Dogs. Our little buddies provide us with such a huge amount of entertainment and devotion. They're a special part of the family.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">7.) Chocolate, because, c'mon, chocolate!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">8.) Books. It's a gift to be able to travel anywhere and everywhere through a story.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">9.) Audiobooks. It's kind of the same, but I'm counting it as different. I love a good voice actor who will make different characters come to life.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">10.) Christmas lights. I love the coziness and cheer that Christmas lights bring, especially on a grey winter evening.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">11.) Homeschooling. I love having the say in my both of my daughters' education. I also love learning a few new things along with them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">12.) Music. Like books, music can carry you away...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">13.) Fresh flowers, because I love a fresh bouquet.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">14.) The simple pleasure of a hot cup of tea.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">15.) The convenience of phones, texting, email, face time, etc, that allow us to stay connected to friends and family when we can't get together.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><p></p>Lauriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09891590053171032210noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5147342140437970744.post-27292226362026464562020-11-13T10:25:00.000-06:002020-11-13T10:25:30.019-06:00Boundary Stone - Economics Online Course Bundle - A Crew Review<p> <b><i><span style="font-size: large;">Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. As parents, we make sure that we provide teaching in math, science, art, language arts, p.e., and more. Those are important subjects, and they are important. But what about courses like economics? I don't see many parents including much of that subject before college. I certainly didn't take such a course in high school. I'm happy that the same will not be the case for my daughters. This month, <a href="https://boundarystone.org/">Boundary Stone</a> provided our family with their <a href="https://boundarystone.org/product/economics-course-bundle/">Economics Online Course Bundle</a> for one student to use and review. I'll admit up front, that I was as enthusiastic to look this over for myself, as I was for my 16 year old to take it. </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9LtqP4YLeVjqHUilBQtSEs__S_1yyDz-R5ZdydcmVQyE75Q-MjasDDmGqBloGATbD-KRhyphenhyphen2IMvRKTivb8NC_CI5XFXt9Y9sOB9-BfvPgd94qs_zSQAMIBz5tJF31wfbeGqMqSRkdOMlY/s888/economics6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="888" data-original-width="677" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9LtqP4YLeVjqHUilBQtSEs__S_1yyDz-R5ZdydcmVQyE75Q-MjasDDmGqBloGATbD-KRhyphenhyphen2IMvRKTivb8NC_CI5XFXt9Y9sOB9-BfvPgd94qs_zSQAMIBz5tJF31wfbeGqMqSRkdOMlY/s320/economics6.jpg" /></a></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">This is a timely and relevant statement.</center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRu27Bjy9UkZvO8oylwJglX485lk1clPquOdnxshNTnQUydRWBlGrOnOBGN7UOcRyKHRZsbTiHnpGhM-JatiMKnFMhMXfdOrd-tJ8xk0c5l-Oy9PeWBC9nysIw3IfrfiCj_92Zt4KHGI8/s846/economics3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="325" data-original-width="846" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRu27Bjy9UkZvO8oylwJglX485lk1clPquOdnxshNTnQUydRWBlGrOnOBGN7UOcRyKHRZsbTiHnpGhM-JatiMKnFMhMXfdOrd-tJ8xk0c5l-Oy9PeWBC9nysIw3IfrfiCj_92Zt4KHGI8/s320/economics3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">You will need the following materials for this course:</center><center style="text-align: justify;">- Clarence Carson's Basic Economics, 4th edition textbook</center><center style="text-align: justify;">- Whatever Happened to Penny Candy, by Richard Maybury</center><center style="text-align: justify;">-The Law, by Frederic Bastiat</center><center style="text-align: justify;">* the course provides a link to a free PDF for The Law if you cannot obtain a copy</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">You have twelve months to complete the online class from the date of your purchase. There are suggestions in the orientation section if you need some help with that.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">The physical textbook for the course (noted above, Basic Economics) is divided into three sections with varying subheadings under each section title. Within those modules are again, varying numbers of lessons and quizzes. </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">This is a very interesting course, because while it is an economics course, also included are bits of Bible, history, government, and social studies. So, if you or your student (and maybe especially your student, ha!) are expecting a boring class, you'll both, I'm happy to say, be wrong. Also, the class provides a timely and relevant message for our students. I don't need to tell you about the turbulence we're seeing in our country, and in our world. There is a push by some to abolish our current system, and it is critical that we, and our students understand what that would mean.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Video overview.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdkuWPwtjWj56mJimh5eMmDgV21dnk8XkJvZLzm1ZVxxM9QzWpmJ4zfJ-VcA1H3kHYDsY5rqvCNgjibje_QWwIoic9aFRVEUg5BcgGY5t-2k2iAEeHzctltfJGbL9zZqUsWfUdOuTFun0/s1232/Screenshot+%2528137%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="795" data-original-width="1232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdkuWPwtjWj56mJimh5eMmDgV21dnk8XkJvZLzm1ZVxxM9QzWpmJ4zfJ-VcA1H3kHYDsY5rqvCNgjibje_QWwIoic9aFRVEUg5BcgGY5t-2k2iAEeHzctltfJGbL9zZqUsWfUdOuTFun0/s320/Screenshot+%2528137%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;">Instructor Paul Cleveland.</center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1S2CbYYGHLG75UhYHJHQTJ7ztYP37piT77M4Ac7hKcmI0jdyyxJFoG4j3gdAUxLndTnmYPVWZnq6j20A4TF10XdE3nxgY0b18AqF501Hre5HIwKbxrYfUKLjAl-aM6INjUjsxYHt4Lnw/s1161/Screenshot+%2528139%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="690" data-original-width="1161" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1S2CbYYGHLG75UhYHJHQTJ7ztYP37piT77M4Ac7hKcmI0jdyyxJFoG4j3gdAUxLndTnmYPVWZnq6j20A4TF10XdE3nxgY0b18AqF501Hre5HIwKbxrYfUKLjAl-aM6INjUjsxYHt4Lnw/s320/Screenshot+%2528139%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">The online section provides the guide for completing each lesson. Man oh man. Honestly, I'm still a novice. It doesn't help that the technology is always changing. You know who doesn't seem to get rattled about all of the tech? Our children. I am amazed that my 15 year old can noodle around with a random computer program, app, software, etc., and have it figured out in a snap. That's a good thing too, since programming skills are in high demand in the job market. Of course, there's more to learning technology than goofing around with an app or two. Where do students acquire the skills they need to become proficient in something like, coding for example? There are good programs available, and we had the opportunity to use one this month. <a href="https://www.homeschoolcode.academy/">Homeschool Code Academy</a> provided us with a 10 month subscription to their <a href="https://www.homeschoolcode.academy/courses/python-for-beginners-homeschool-programming">Python for Beginners: Learn Coding at Home</a> course to use and review. Let me tell you about it.</center><center><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">This course is perfect for those that have no experience with coding. Suitable ages are middle school to high school age. The lessons are self paced. If your student is a quick study, you might complete everything in one semester, or if you need more time, you might make it a full year class. Students learn with short video lessons that walk them through all of the components of coding, with easy to follow, step by step instructions. After following along with the teacher, they will complete small tasks or challenges.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Matt Bohn is the video instructor. Our subscription is for one student, and my 15 year old volunteered to be the primary user. I sit in to get an overview. Older students like mine will need minimal to no parent help. We have liked his teaching a lot. He goes very slow, explaining in good detail, which is great for us. She's still a girly girl, and couldn't wait to get her markers on the beautiful illustrations. It's the NIV version, the same as you'll find in any typical NIV Bible for adults. Throughout the pages, in the margins, and sometimes on their own separate pages, are artistic illustrations, designs, and of course, verses. I really like that the overall theme is not ultra phoofy, if you know what I mean. It isn't too "little girly". Not every girl loves pink, right? The color scheme used on the cover actually look rather elegant. This is a Bible that can and will be used for years. In fact, I would happily use and carry this version to church and Bible study. </p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p> The cover is very pretty, the photo doesn't do it justice.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhppJ_9rAft2I22HD0kyNsSYnThDHrvFA4iPogvXvJ06teL18UeFwzMxa5TTvzvwfQsgcmCUeZKZaZnKxV-iGBVrmRkQ6REQTEwOUXs3taleYMMPz5JjHmFl6n2-XFNV9zcAdwk-BTtkTY/s2048/IMG_3366.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1671" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhppJ_9rAft2I22HD0kyNsSYnThDHrvFA4iPogvXvJ06teL18UeFwzMxa5TTvzvwfQsgcmCUeZKZaZnKxV-iGBVrmRkQ6REQTEwOUXs3taleYMMPz5JjHmFl6n2-XFNV9zcAdwk-BTtkTY/s320/IMG_3366.JPG" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>I've taught my daughters that the Bible is a book that can and should be written in with notes and whatever helps the owner understand and retain the message. Through the fascinating courses of this program, Dave Stotts of the above mentioned Adventures has been our tour guide to sites all over the world. We've journeyed to the Middle East and watched the Gospels brought to life, we've observed what the lives of the early Christians were like, visited the Mediterranean region as we studied ancient history, and discovered our roots as we took a virtual look at the birth of the United States of America. It's been engaging, amazing, hilarious, heart wrenching, and awesome. Our studies of these topics have always left us ready for another educational escapade, and here it is! We were given Lifetime Access to their latest course, <b>Bible Unearthed</b>, to use and review this past month, and I'm pleased to tell you about it.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5nRAi_NvvhG69W8MKdGiMPF6JqiB8tSV2CfTVPC8Ezc4mAmgX_oCuNlIbDf7lumHBvnweFLS3ScLC2-q6TW5BEuEsbUmnxzH_Y9X5E3zGFaTl1VagulA6h5dsnCDySnlJJOfZxG_sTuQ/s1338/Screenshot+%2528118%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="266" data-original-width="1338" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5nRAi_NvvhG69W8MKdGiMPF6JqiB8tSV2CfTVPC8Ezc4mAmgX_oCuNlIbDf7lumHBvnweFLS3ScLC2-q6TW5BEuEsbUmnxzH_Y9X5E3zGFaTl1VagulA6h5dsnCDySnlJJOfZxG_sTuQ/s320/Screenshot+%2528118%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Bible Unearthed focuses on archaeology. I realize that this can be a subject that can be kind of a drudge for some of you, so let's start with a math joke. What is a math teacher's favorite snake? Anyone? A pi-thon! Cue the drum- ba dum tss! Ok, don't abandon me, because this really is a great resource that I'm sharing with you. Do you have a student that can't seem to grasp certain math concepts? Have you tried what seems like every program and curriculum out there, to no avail? Stay with me then, because this could be "The One". What program is this? It's <a href="https://mathandalgebra.com/">MathandAlgebra.com</a> , and they graciously provided our family with a one year family subscription which includes math courses in Elementary, Intermediate, PreAlgebra, and Algebra 1. </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Sometimes events in life just make you laugh with irony. When my oldest, now a Junior in high school, was taking Algebra 1, we couldn't seem to find the "right" program for her. She spent a lot of time in tears. The instruction on most of the programs that we tried seemed incomplete. Then, when my youngest started Algebra, I found a program with teacher whose instruction was fantastic. He had a way of getting straight to the point, and communicating the concepts efficiently and simply. I urged my oldest to give him a try, but she declined and stayed on with the course that was at least a bit better than previous ones.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Imagine my surprise when I discovered through this review, that the teacher that MathandAlgebra.com uses is THE SAME TEACHER that I wanted her to try! So let me introduce you to Mr. Richard Fisher, an award winning math teacher who has a unique gift for making math easier to understand. </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"> This is what your video screen looks like before you begin.</center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgstox-geRnZOY5KujFN9ZGwH6hnA-G5S59lG8MJta2TilaL4pyXknhBRrqGRpCoIbFjOEEzwYSGfrdbZKM8ZhA2AYTJwuyX7D_eUlmpCyI7g4Vcd5lchGLGw_zNiE-luWyqmUrANHtwvg/s878/Screenshot+%2528116%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="611" data-original-width="878" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgstox-geRnZOY5KujFN9ZGwH6hnA-G5S59lG8MJta2TilaL4pyXknhBRrqGRpCoIbFjOEEzwYSGfrdbZKM8ZhA2AYTJwuyX7D_eUlmpCyI7g4Vcd5lchGLGw_zNiE-luWyqmUrANHtwvg/s320/Screenshot+%2528116%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A video in progress. As the website states, "It's Common Sense". As a person without a natural tendency towards mathematics, all I want is for a teacher to get to the point, put it in laymen's terms so I can understand it. Richard Fisher does just that. She loves it! HUGE sigh of relief from me. I still laugh when I think about all of the times that I urged her to give this teacher a listen before, and she was hesitant. The trouble we could have avoided! Oh well. </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">She has said quite a few times since starting this, that the teaching explains it so well, and she understands the topics in a way that she couldn't before now. I sat with my daughter as she worked through equations and I couldn't believe that I was actually enjoying the work! </center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Suffice it to say, I approve and recommend this program to everyone, and especially those who struggle with math. My oldest, now a Junior in high school, says that to me in regards to a couple of her current courses, all...the...time...sigh. To be honest, I remember expressing the very same frustrations with my mother. I've seen parents on social media talk about replacing certain classes that seem somewhat superfluous, with more practical subjects. That's just one benefit of homeschooling your children. You can include topics that teach important life skills that might otherwise be glossed over, if not left out entirely.</center><center style="text-align: justify;">For example, how many of us had formal instruction in managing finances? I know that I didn't. Yet it's a vital skill to learn. My husband and I have shared what we consider to be good money advice with our daughters here and there, but when the opportunity to review <a href="https://www.pemlife.org/homeschool">Personal Finance IllustratedĀ® Homeschool Edition</a> from <a href="https://www.pemlife.org/">PEM LIFE</a> , I was happy to fill in that gap.</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">We received access to this online financial course for six months. This course is designed for older students, at least in the upper high school grades. It is a single semester course. They use the Interactive Personal Economic Model to illustrate the key concepts.</center><center><p><br /></p><p>Personal Economic Model</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxbOx4_UncqUrgX1a5uIdhyphenhyphen7cOZxb8amZodGRe4YC8ENsolUQIxhSZJZJqBFKTIBvoGIFdKB3u3HCnbsQjZBJtNNGpxWXiNldzMwk0aDiIjOmeChfaGL1wFIiFeIfFMXM8oETeQjM1jsM/s826/Screenshot+%2528109%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="342" data-original-width="826" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxbOx4_UncqUrgX1a5uIdhyphenhyphen7cOZxb8amZodGRe4YC8ENsolUQIxhSZJZJqBFKTIBvoGIFdKB3u3HCnbsQjZBJtNNGpxWXiNldzMwk0aDiIjOmeChfaGL1wFIiFeIfFMXM8oETeQjM1jsM/s320/Screenshot+%2528109%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p></center><center style="text-align: justify;">There are 18 Units:</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 1 - Personal Economic Model</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 2 - Time Value of Money</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 3 - Lifetime Capital Potential</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 4 - Opportunity Cost</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 5 - The tax Filter</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 6 - Lifestyle Regulator</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 7 - Temperament and Finances</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 8 - The Importance of Protection</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 9 - Debt - What It Is, What It Is Not </center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 10 - Pay Cash or Finance?</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 11 - The Investment Tank</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 12 - The Savings Tank</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 13 - Access to Capital</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 14 - Qualified Plans</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 15 - Mortgages, The Right Choice</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 16 - Why Go to Work?</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 17 - Principles of Work</center><center style="text-align: justify;">Unit 18 - The Danger of Riches</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"> Video lessons with Don Blanton</center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiizLPvkTGrJwANTUn10A0QHbL21XvEc97vZrVievSCPedEbgMUmnBtfHwFzYV23WO9MxAOzaTN8oGhWRNWQIYm8QUVxCi86tEb-2HbaYbd2rc94_sZHNtkwo5M4PROZ5QBZvXQF9ogC6o/s903/Screenshot+%2528103%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="508" data-original-width="903" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiizLPvkTGrJwANTUn10A0QHbL21XvEc97vZrVievSCPedEbgMUmnBtfHwFzYV23WO9MxAOzaTN8oGhWRNWQIYm8QUVxCi86tEb-2HbaYbd2rc94_sZHNtkwo5M4PROZ5QBZvXQF9ogC6o/s320/Screenshot+%2528103%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: justify;">Each Unit is well organized. Was it a good day for you? Ours was really different than past years, but good! Our daughters have outgrown Trick or Treating- instead, they spent the evening with friends at a little get together.</p><p>My husband and I chauffeured them back and forth, and enjoyed an extended date night while they were with their friends. Since Iām not really a fan of Halloween, it was great! The kids had a great time, my husband and I had a great time...a good night.</p><p>Now we can move on to Thanksgiving and all things cozy. Between the tastes in our household of four, I think we have most every genre covered. The strains of "whatever-the-current-favorite-band-of-my-daughters-is-at-the-moment" can be heard blaring through the bedroom doors of our home at any given time. Once in awhile, I even get the chance to add in my preferred tunes, lol. I laugh at myself, because I'm now at the age where I think most of the modern music is lousy, and I find myself searching for older selections. Listening to the radio stations can be tricky too, because there's so much garbage that I want my family to avoid. When we were given a subscription for 6 month's access to <a href="https://smartkidzradio.com/">Smart Kidz Radio: Member's On-Demand Radio Program Library </a> from <a href="https://smartkidzradio.com/">Smart Kidz Radio</a> to review, I was interested in finding out how my family would respond.</center><center><br /></center><center><br /></center><center><br /></center><center><br /></center><center><br /></center><center><br /></center><center>Even your youngest littles will love the choices that Smart Kidz Radio provides, from songs that teach skills, to Bible songs, to stories.</center><center><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Ny9ijhKiD_q-avd-KyWf7KGgL2FOrnLmnAmimEzDfc0ARflKARzDrU-3kaYFXNQxG7qScawV76bHI-bCNNkZIFtQfb9Ox-N9grdfLsqC1zx7L_4UjqqpkgZgvMleg1auLUjfseslvGY/s1661/Screenshot+%252882%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="554" data-original-width="1661" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Ny9ijhKiD_q-avd-KyWf7KGgL2FOrnLmnAmimEzDfc0ARflKARzDrU-3kaYFXNQxG7qScawV76bHI-bCNNkZIFtQfb9Ox-N9grdfLsqC1zx7L_4UjqqpkgZgvMleg1auLUjfseslvGY/s320/Screenshot+%252882%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><center><br /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmjDmEu7gJkoRg0KqDUUDGGeBW1YN98N_nWekYFWEKpZJw0bUlzBwSDDxqwGfxM3VT41_sZs6Kjr1kJKN203LbTGCo-p0L4AY-OuDFHoe_BVBPv9fxPAP87vodQEm1GsqD3jHnfrwNzOQ/s1723/Screenshot+%252890%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="597" data-original-width="1723" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmjDmEu7gJkoRg0KqDUUDGGeBW1YN98N_nWekYFWEKpZJw0bUlzBwSDDxqwGfxM3VT41_sZs6Kjr1kJKN203LbTGCo-p0L4AY-OuDFHoe_BVBPv9fxPAP87vodQEm1GsqD3jHnfrwNzOQ/s320/Screenshot+%252890%2529.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><center><br /></center><center><br /></center><center>Smart Kidz Radio is a subscription based educational radio station for kids. I donāt know, malaise? Current events are exhausting, and there seems to be little escape from strife and contentious attitudes. I wish there was somewhere peaceful to run to...sigh.</p><p>There really isnāt anywhere where I can whisk away, but, there are always books! I love a good book. The best ones are those that you want to read over and over again. </p><p>Iāve been so busy with this and that lately, so Iāve been getting my fix with audiobooks. I love that I can feel productive while I get things done, but still enjoy a good story.</p><p>This week, I started over one of my favorite series ever. The Mitford Books by Jan Karon tell the story of the goings on of an Episcopalian priest, and the sweet, quirky folks in his small town of Mitford.</p><p>They have a Christian bent, are somewhat slow moving, and wonderfully peaceful to read. Iāve read them through twice, and itās been long enough since I last went through them that they feel new again. </p><p>This series just refreshes my soul, and itās been great to kind of mentally relax. Best of all, there are a LOT of books to enjoy. What are you reading, or listening to?</p>Lauriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09891590053171032210noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5147342140437970744.post-70316802586073593652020-10-17T20:58:00.004-05:002020-10-17T20:58:34.692-05:00Sweetest Day?<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR8tnaYK9utuGMGoxY1MYgcOqvKuRivpOa35vG2UDZMuwk-ARzlyNc7yrTVh2HTTdnkAC6g7fSFbklLhCyQK-LKMkuXP9p6tT4QKb3EwbsVL_zQgahYfKzVAQNBHXNretTKIWfFHjQV-s/s2048/6C06BA12-59F4-48EB-A8E0-8DC3143D9959.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR8tnaYK9utuGMGoxY1MYgcOqvKuRivpOa35vG2UDZMuwk-ARzlyNc7yrTVh2HTTdnkAC6g7fSFbklLhCyQK-LKMkuXP9p6tT4QKb3EwbsVL_zQgahYfKzVAQNBHXNretTKIWfFHjQV-s/s320/6C06BA12-59F4-48EB-A8E0-8DC3143D9959.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Ok, am I the only one who didnāt know it was Sweetest Day today? Itās really just a Hallmark holiday, right? I think I may have remembered a time or two in recent years, with a treat for my girls. I also remember my now husband sending me flowers for the occasion when we were dating, but itās not something we celebrate, really.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Still, we had a sweet day. My girls and I did some spontaneous shopping. Then a lazy afternoon watching old tv shows and munching on candy ( cause we needed sweets for Sweetest Day). I think it was even better since we enjoyed our time together just for the sake of liking each other, and not because a holiday told us to. Did you do anything to celebrate?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Lauriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09891590053171032210noreply@blogger.com0
